HOTELS • The hotel market is definitely on a roll! If 2021 was rich in openings, 2022 was also full of surprises. From the Château Voltaire to the Grand Contrôle (see our six rococo addresses), via La Bastide de Saint-Tropez and the Tartane, or the S/O Paris and the Rosalie, 2022 has seen the most beautiful hotel openings in France.

 

In Paris in particular, architects and designers – Marion Mailaender, Dorothée Delaye, Jordane Arrivetz – have unveiled new aesthetic addresses that are as desirable as they come. Here’s a look at the most beautiful new hotels in the capital.

Rosalie Hotel

At 8 bis avenue de la Sœur Rosalie, behind the iron gate of a hidden courtyard a few steps from the Place d'Italie, hides a well-kept secret: the Hotel Rosalie. The latest confidential address from Joris Bruneel (MyHotels), Rosalie is a departure from the codes of the Parisian 4-star hotel by inviting nature to reclaim its rights in the city. In charge of the decoration? Marion Mailaender has designed an "off-piste" decor, blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor.

S/O Paris Hotel

It was one of the most anticipated openings of 2022: the SO/ collection is inviting itself to Paris for the first time, in David Chipperfield's Morland Tower in the 4th arrondissement of the capital. On the program: 162 rooms and suites, the Maison CODAGE Spa and a fitness room with pool signed by RDAI; Bonnie, a high-rise restaurant run by ParisSociety and decorated by Jordane Arrivetz; and everywhere, a fabulous view of the capital.

This year, the Elysées Mermoz hotel has begun a new life, revamped and renamed NUAGE. After two years of renovation, the 22 rooms and 5 suites of the boutique hotel are slowly rising towards the stratosphere and taking visitors to dreamland. A bubble of softness in the middle of the Parisian rush signed Jordane Arrivetz.

To be lulled by the notes of Orpheus and to fall asleep in the arms of Morpheus: this is the promise of this particular address. In the 5th arrondissement of Paris, a stone's throw from the Jardin des Plantes, the Great Mosque of Paris and Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the Orso group has installed its latest addition. Entirely redesigned by the architect Eloïse Bosredon, the Hotel Orphée gently plays with shapes and colors. A bewitching decor, like the notes of the poet-musician of Greek mythology.

Located 10 minutes walk from the legendary Arc de Triomphe, the boutique hotel Le Belgrand Paris Champs Elysées is the new creation of the Hilton group. Uncluttered decoration, soft light... Here, everything is designed to evoke moments of reverie. The chic Parisian codes are cradled by the padded atmosphere and the contemporary artistic references of the interior designer Victor Bonnivard.

An air of Miami in the heart of Paris: located on Avenue de Wagram, the powder pink façade designed in 1928 by architect Pierre Patout transports the capital to the seaside of Florida. Inside this Art Deco icon, the Hôtel Mercedes is being given a makeover by Dorothée Delaye. Seven floors of pure fantasy tell the story of the Roaring Twenties but also of the Miami of the Seventies with the vibrant interpretation of the interior designer. Goodmoods' signature pieces - the Olympic mirror and Playground cushions - are embedded in the decor and invite themselves aboard the Art Deco cruise.
