The Arlatan Hotel

Architectural kaleidoscope in the heart of the city of Arles. For 3 years, Maja Hoffmann entrusted the keys to L’Arlatan to the American-Cuban artist Jorge Pardo. Far from the classic standards of decoration, the hotel is now a work of art in its own right.

Two and a half million hand-glazed ceramic tiles. Six thousand square metres. Thirty rooms. Eleven artists’ residences. A preserved heritage: joist ceilings, original stone walls, antique columns. On the rosettes of the blue, yellow, red or green floors, the contemporary furniture designed by Pardo cohabits with 20th century treasures. Wrapped in these shimmering colours, L’Arlatan telescopes visitors into a dreamlike and moving universe.
