An Art Deco boudoir inspired by « Wes Andersonian »? It must have been Cristina Celestino who was behind it. Very subtly, the Italian imposes her universe, recognisable among many. Whatever the project, she distils her very own je-ne-sais-quoi, between geometric furniture and pastel shades.
This year, she is full of ideas for her brand Attico, but also for Fendi, Fornace Brioni or cc-tapis. And she continues to play with the symbols of her beloved city: after reinterpreting a 1928 Milanese tramway for Design Week last year, this year she has set her sights on the iconic Caffè Cucci patisserie. A new version of this gourmet boudoir, designed with the Misha wallpaper brand. Very appealing.

« I use a wide range of materials. Glass and ceramics are the ones I like the most: I found the perfect suppliers and learned how to use them in the best possible way. »
Cristina juggles ideas and projects. With Planetario, designed for the Besana Carpet Lab brand, she brings fitted carpets back into fashion. At Fornace Brioni, she gives a breath of fresh air to cotto (a popular clay in the Italian Renaissance) by reworking it with geometric motifs in bas-relief in unusual tile formats.
Past, present or future?
“The future exists in the past and both are part of everything” said Nanda Vigo and that’s a good summary, I think! When I design an interior or a room, I play with history. My preference? Mixing contemporary technologies with traditional materials to give shape to my own aesthetics.
