Dear Future
Until 31 March, in parallel with Frieze 2023, the American gallery The Future Perfect is delving into the archives of Gaetano Pesce’s collections and presenting the Italian designer’s major works, created between 1969 and 2022, on the ground floor of Goldwyn House in Los Angeles.
« When I was young, I discovered that I had a particular attraction to everything that had to happen. In other words, for everything that is new and from the Future. Not being satisfied with what had already taken shape, I began to wonder what the future would reveal to us, » recalls Gaetano Pesce. Driven by curiosity and radical thinking throughout his career, he has shaped a unique approach to design by pushing the dialogue with social criticism, including through explicit forms and unusual materials.
In all, some 50 of Gaetano Pesce’s iconic pieces are on display and for sale at The Future Perfect, including the highly exclusive version of his UP5_6 (La Mamma) seat in recycled cork produced in 2021 by B&B Italia.
