Maison&Objet 2022
The MAISON&OBJET trade show, a must for the fall season, presented from September 8 to 12 the new products of brands and publishers that transcend creation. The theme this season? META SENSIBLE. A fantasy reflection on the contradictory aspirations of our time: the desire to be anchored in reality (craftsmanship, know-how) and the quest for the digital (technologies, metavers). A watchword? Emotion!
Hypnotic psychedelia, immersion in science fiction, return to our roots… Goodmoods looks back at the trends that marked the 2022 edition.
PSYCHEDELIC SPECTRUM
The craft plunges into an optical and surreal universe, between delirium and hypnotism.
Strange creatures in ceramic of the Kartini Studio, the iridescent side tables paved with mirrors by Pols Potten and the blown glass vases with cosmic lines by Pierrot Doremus overplayed the colours, effects and prints to create offbeat works that conveyed emotions.
In Immersion!
Make way for immersion. Nourished by mythology and science fiction, the scenographies were theatricalized and mystified to create bridges between dreams and realities, past and future, like the Exotic Palace of Cristina Celestino (designer of the year), the « reminisens » of l’Atelier ATHEM and the mise en abyme of François Delclaux’s. Utopia Now installation.
Get back in shape!
This year, the designers dribbled between sports inspirations at M&O. From Maurizio Casini’s basketball-shaped seats to Foundy's calf leather kettlebell and NOHrD’s ultra-luxurious wooden exercise bike, the exhibitors have elevated fitness to a new level, transforming the sports session into a real moment of contemplation.
Asian lacquer
Both minimalist and highly decorative, asian lacquer was celebrated with contemporaneity and authenticity. On the ceramic tableware of Studio Yoon Seok-hyeon, on the lacquered wooden wall lamp of Made in Kira and on the placemats of l'Indochineur, it gains in modernity and takes on different aspects each time: patina, satin, glossy, wet…
Checkerboard pattern
Far from keeping to themselves, checkerboards are played out in a thousand ways in the collections of the moment. Once reserved for board games, they are now used on all fronts, in all styles, materials and uses: on boxes of Panisa, duvet covers of Broste Copenhagen…
Abyssal depths
Rough, honeycombed shells, poisonous fish and tentacular organisms swarm and engulf us in the abyssal depths. Brands and designers - Gangzaï, Sophie Luline, OVO - are inspired by marine life to draw a world that looks like « Vingt Mille Lieues sous les mers », obscure and enigmatic.
