The Cōmodo

Mood: Alpine nostalgia. Between the opening of 1550 by Iconic House and the avalanche of reinvented chalets in recent years, snow refuges are in the air. And contemporary designers are determined to dust off their image.

Perched in the sleepy village of Bad Gastein in Austria, The Cōmodo is the first hotel from architects Piotr Wisniewski and Barbara Elwardt, the duo behind weStudio. It is housed in a former sanatorium from the 1960s, which has been completely transformed by the firm with charm and contemporaneity.

Here, nature and creation share the stage. From architecture to interior design, The Cōmodo takes an excursion into the modernist repertoire of the 1960s, incorporating pieces from the new wave of designers such as Zieta Studio, FUNDAMENTAL and Gosia Warrink. Art is not left out: more than 140 works by emerging talents celebrate the outdoor landscapes and blow a breath of modernity into this neo-chalet.
