Unclassifiable. The work of multidisciplinary artist Andrés Reisinger defies categorization. Straddling both the physical and virtual worlds through expansive works that embody his time and era, the Argentina-based artist in Spain invents a world of his own. One day, he creates imaginary universes shaped on the computer; another day, he designs real-life pieces of furniture that instantly become memorable, and in between, he collaborates with major houses like Dior and Gucci to create desirable campaigns. This creative ubiquity, Andrés materializes today through « Unclassifiable, » a self-published book that chronicles his seven years of artistic practice. Included are 348 pages, 100 illustrations, complemented by interpretations from philosophers, artists, and art curators. A virtual encounter.

Young, what influenced and shaped your taste?

« I didn’t grow up surrounded by beauty and taste. My life was rather ordinary; my parents were alchemists, so there weren’t really any beautiful things at home. But that’s quite positive because it’s when you’re free from influences that you have the most chance of creating something new. »

What are your inspirations for creating?

« Everything comes quite randomly. When I try to think of something specific, I get blocked. I mainly aim to create a setup, an environment that allows me in the end to have a result. I’m not interested in the thing itself but its surroundings. »

That’s how my creations come to life, through the expansion of things. It’s like popcorn; when you set the scene at the right temperature, at a certain moment, it comes to life.

At what age did you start creating?

« I don’t exactly remember the age, but I started creating tangible things with my hands at a very young age, and everything changed when I began using the computer. »

Do you think artificial intelligence is changing your way of creating?

« Today, I sometimes use AI, but I don’t see it as a threat; rather, I view it as a tool that allows me to accelerate some of my processes. Tools are constantly changing; what’s important is how we use them. »

What is the genesis of

your book « Unclassifiable »?

« For me, this book was an opportunity to establish a comprehensive overview of my work. It’s a curation and selection of almost everything I’ve created up until now, with an expansion of words and interpretations, knowing that I rarely share the exegesis of my works. »

Why « Unclassifiable »?

« Because I work across multiple mediums, and with this book, I can showcase them without having to classify them. I don’t define myself as simply a designer or just a 3D artist, but as both. It’s a way to present the versatility of my work. »

Where does this fascination for pink come from?

« I started using it as an alternative color to white. Pink was very useful from the beginning because white is very difficult to shade. The undertones of the skin are much more manageable and flexible. »

Des projets à venir qui vous enthousiasment ?

« Je ne peux pas trop en dire, mais je travaille sur des pièces physiques. Si je dois révéler quelque chose : c’est un projet qui se rapproche d’Hortensia. »
