Design is always where you least expect it, and it’s not Sam Stewart who will say otherwise. Surprising, playful, whimsical, the American designer’s creations create the surprise effect and never fail to appeal to the absurd. A table and chairs in the shape of clouds, rooms designed like the personal effects of the Yeti, a real castle for cats covered with carpet…
Sam Stewart draws his inspiration from the folklore and science fiction of 80’s and 90’s children’s movies such as Beetlejuice or Bigfoot. While his design is meant to be light-hearted, his approach aims to give exaggerated visual satisfaction and to attract anecdotal or even awkward encounters with the object, all with a meticulous attention to craftsmanship and its modes of production.
