Best of table linen
Textiles are coming to the table. Once neglected, it is now being revisited with mixed prints, singular colours, embroidery, patchworks and upcycling of all kinds. The appeal of this style has been aroused by the cheerful tables of the influencers who abound on Instagram.
The labels are inspired by long summer meals to create tablecloths, coasters, napkins and placemats that are colourful and resolutely offbeat. From the most whimsical to the most sober: La Veste, Amuse la Bouche, Lisa Corti, La Romaine Éditions, Table, Œuvres Sensibles. Goodmoods unveils seven brands that tell table stories with taste.
Lisa Corti
Lisa Corti creates table cloths. It is in Italy, in a former 17th century convent located a few steps from Porta Venezia, that the Italian designer imagines her fabrics, then handcrafted and meticulously designed in India. Collection after collection, Western, Indian and African influences come together to create flamboyant textiles.
La Romaine Éditions
Pauline Vincent founded La Romaine Éditions to celebrate the beauty of everyday objects. She likes to remember the settings of her childhood: the large tablecloths at lunches, the colourful vases in which lavender dried, the glasses from her great-grandfather's wedding... Today she pays tribute to this family holiday home in La Romaine through custom-made pieces created with craftsmen, artists and friends.
Table
Amuse La Bouche
Circus stripes and ruffled napkins... Amuse La Bouche makes faces and tables smile. While the London-based label is meant to be playful, it's not kidding about sustainability and quality: each Amuse La Bouche piece is handmade in India from 100% linen fabric and environmentally friendly pigments.
La Veste
In 2018, Spanish designers Blanca Miro and Maria de la Orden decided to join forces to create a fashion and home line under the name The Jacket. Their inspiration? Vintage.
Checked patterns, wavy lines, mixtures of textures and colourful associations... The made in Spain brand wakes up summer meals with maximalist and extravagant napkins, coasters, placemats and tablecloths.
