10 new galleries at PAD Paris 2023
From 29 to 2 April, in the heart of the Tuileries Gardens, the new edition of PAD Paris 2023 was held. The fair, one of the most important in the field of design and art, saw things in a big way for its 25th edition. A total of one hundred international galleries, ranging from modern art to jewellery, answered the call.
To appropriately mark its anniversary, PAD Paris welcomed ten emerging exhibitors who take a fresh look at art and design of yesterday and today. There were, for example, reinvented beds at Objects With Narratives (Switzerland) and Aequō (India), landmark pieces of 1980s design at Remix and Nes Gallery. Or a tribute to historical 20th century design at Dimoregallery and MassModernDesign. Let’s take a look back at the diverse and varied scenographies and proposals of these ten new galleries that marked the PAD Paris 2023.
DimoreGallery

Britt Moran and Emiliano Salci are the founding fathers of Dimoregallery. Specialising in Mid-Century, the founding duo do not hesitate to bring together the past and the present when exhibiting pieces from Dimorestudio, their design brand. This year, the PAD Paris awarded them the Prix du Stand. A fine reward for this gallery which was born on the second floor of a Milanese palace nine years ago.
Objects With Narratives
Ⓒ Studio Brinth
Founded by the Vandewyngaerde brothers and Oskar Eryatmaz, the design gallery created in 2018 is the youngest in this new edition of PAD Paris. Through its exhibition "Out Of The Blue", Objects With Narratives demonstrates that design is about storytelling. Laurids Gallée's Melina Melina bed, Alissa Volchkova's Frost mirror, and Jan Ernst's Loop suspension lamps immerse visitors to PAD Paris in a dark and mysterious atmosphere.
Foreign Agent

Located in Lausanne, Switzerland, this contemporary art and design gallery - founded by Olivier Chow - highlights the emerging African scene. The armchair and bench Beauty in the eye of the beholder by Yinka Ilori, and the painting Self Portrait by Didier Viodé, displayed here and there in the PAD Paris, evoke a retro-futuristic aesthetic. Foreign Agent offers a beautiful invitation to travel in the heart of the Jardin des Tuileries.
Aequō Gallery
Ⓒ Galerie Aequō
Founded in 2022 by Tarini Jindal, Aequō is one of the first design galleries in India. From craftsmanship to contemporary design, it promotes a new vision of the continent's know-how. At the centre of the scenography presented during PAD Paris, an imposing bed made of teak wood and rice straw attracts the attention of visitors. The Ajanta Daybed was imagined by the designer Valériane Lazard and won the Contemporary Design Prize. A great reward for this young gallery.

Specialising in furniture from the 1980s, Valérie Bouvier and Antoine Nouvet have been offering a wide selection of designer pieces since 2015, ranging from Philippe Starck's Mickville stool to Jean-Michel Wilmotte's Grand Louvre desk. With the primary aim of promoting the iconic creations of numerous international designers, the creative duo also promotes a political vision of what design could represent at the time. This will add a little spice to the PAD Paris.
BEAU BOW by Alexis Mabille

Coming straight from the world of fashion, Alexis Mabille is now launching his furniture design business with Beau Bow Editions. Whether it's an haute couture collection or interior design, the aim is to highlight the personality of each individual. The proof is in the Wave collection. Both warm and delicate, the furniture offered by Alexis Mabille's label is an ode to refinement.

Romain Morandi Gallery

Nestled in the heart of the 6th arrondissement of Paris, in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the Romain Morandi gallery is considered one of the pioneering galleries of its generation. For its first participation in the PAD Paris, Romain Morandi presents numerous pieces of furniture such as the daybed by Oscar Jespers, the Ceremonial screen by Dan Friedman or the Hamlet Machine chair by Bob Wilson. He combines different creative movements from the 19th century to the present day.
Mélissa Paul Gallery

Craftsmanship, art and tradition are the watchwords of Melissa Paul who founded her gallery in 2018. What makes her special? Pushing the laws of classical design. Each piece of furniture that the gallery owner presents on her stand - such as the Crustacean armchair by Agnès Debizet - brings art and design into dialogue with simplicity. On the stand of the Mélissa Paul gallery, emerging and established artists enter into a symbiotic relationship in perfect discretion.

Étienne Feijins has been collecting since he was a child. Old toys, decorative furniture, objects... The historical design of the 20th century has always animated him. He believes that art and design go hand in hand. That is why in his 5000 m2 showroom in Roosendaal, the gallery owner displays collector's items as if they were in a museum showcase. At PAD Paris, the gallery designed an intimate living room where the Componivel bookcase and the Brasiliana sofa by Jorge Zalszupin interact with each other. On MassModernDesign's website, the minutes are frozen.
Nes Gallery

It was in 2017 that this Parisian gallery was born. Passionate about 1980s design, Nes Gallery presents singular pieces of furniture with French and Italian influences. During the PAD Paris 2023, the scenography showed works by designer Philippe Starck, painter Martin Szekely and the duo Paolo Pallucco & Mireille.
