A uruguayan atmosphere in Los Angeles
Emiliana Gonzalez and Jessie Young have managed to recreate a uruguayan atmosphere in their studio in Los Angeles. The inspiration is assumed and at the antipodes of the exuberant latino colourful cliché. From their country of origin, they retain a certain melancholy, with natural and soft tones. « Our culture is above all rural and European, inherited from our Scottish, Italian and Spanish ancestors, with very British winters, » they say.
Since 2014, the duo has been sculpting natural and sensual materials: leather follows the lines of wood, while steel and glass bend smoothly. The result is furniture that speaks to both space and the body. A play with curves and lines designed as a joyful discussion between function and sculpture, product and narrative.
