Divination

Styles

A fascination with divinatory art is evident in the creative world. Recently, Waww La Table presented its pieces around a fortune-teller’s caravan at the Maison&Objet trade show, while Printemps unveiled astrology-themed shop windows with on-demand cartomancy consultations.

This trend has been anticipated for some time by creatives from all walks of life. Addresses with esoteric inspirations (Prescription Cocktail Club by Dorothée Meilichzon, Studio Frantzén by Joyn Studio); collections that draw tarot cards (Maestria) or invoke the stars (Léa Zéroil); shamanic installations (Studiopepe, Egg Collective): the creative scene is passionate about occult aesthetics. Dive into a world as mystical as it is enigmatic.

The Moon, the Sun, the Empress, the Lovers, the Tower… The figures drawn have made their way into the collections of Maestria Gallery, which embarked on an esoteric dream journey last year for an exhibition called « Major Arcana, » curated by ODA Paris. Seven designers presented their interpretations of astrological symbols, reincarnating the Marseille Tarot cards through their pieces, the ultimate divination game.

If Paris is magical, it is also sometimes mystical. At the heart of Rue Mazarine hides a cosmic cocktail bar just revamped by Dorothée Meilichzon : Prescription Cocktail Club. On the agenda: tarot initiations, games of chance, astrological encounters, fortune-telling DJs… Its London soulmate? The dining space at Studio Frantzén in Harrods.

Luxurious velvet, precious embroidery, constellations and mysterious designs, round tables, golden chairs, silk tablecloths, crystals, and candles… The atmosphere becomes occult and bohemian in the projects of architects and the collections of designers and publishers (Egg Collective, Studiopepe, Pierre Frey, Gucci, Pierre Yovanovitch) as if enchanted by the codes of divination.
