Humbert & Poyet’s mood

© Francis Amiand

Humbert & Poyet in a few key figures? 2 inseparable people who for 11 years have been translating complex and refined atmospheres in 3 dimensions. Nothing can stop them from their Monegasque Rock: they are currently imagining two hotels in Korea, private flats from Doha to Tel Aviv, a collection with the Pouenat house which will be presented this spring at the Fuorisalone in Milan, the future Beef Bar restaurants in NY, Milan, Rome and São Paulo…

From the four corners of the globe, out of time and out of fashion, the duo imbues its trademark: noble materials, surprising associations, striking stories. A decryption in images!

THE AD INTÉRIEUR 2019 EXHIBITION

« Our standpoint for our second participation in AD Interiors? Mixing a neo-classical spirit with Art Deco and Renaissance notes: a happy blend to magnify the bathroom. »

« We worked with Atelier Tollis to imagine the monumental alcoves in textured and patinated plaster and the decorative panel gilded with leaf. A long research to shape the perfect décor – oriented towards the green marble monolith bathtub and the brass shower-cage ».

MALTA BEEF BAR

« We worked on the first Beef Bar in Monaco 10 years ago. Then their Parisian address gave a real boost to the concept. At the moment, we are working on the ones in New York, Milan, Rome and São Paulo. »

« Malta is the latest and the first Beef Bar on a beach. There, we wanted to keep the codes of the brand while playing with this sea orientation by working with natural fibres on the ceiling and more daring colours. We thought of the place as a sunny curiosity cabinet with antique objects, Mediterranean plants scattered in the niches of the large library ».

L’HOTEL UP – ULTIMATE PROVENCE

© Francis Amiand

« A project that is particularly close to our hearts on the St Tropez wine route. It is always fascinating to imagine a place to live with different and complementary spaces: a restaurant, a wine storehouse, a tasting room and about thirty rooms. We wanted to create a journey and a resonance between all the parts of the estate by moving away from the overly first degree codes of the vineyards. We imagined a more urban universe with metallic notes and very colourful with notes of blue. »

FOCUS ON THE AQUAZZURA SHOP IN NY

« The Florence-based luxury house Aquazzura wanted to open its second shop in Soho, New York’s hottest neighborhood. »

« The brand approached us so that we could offer them a decor that would match the house and the neighbourhood in which they wanted to settle. Located on 99th Prince Street, Aquazzura Soho is a 55 square metre boutique with an original 19th century façade ».

Adjective(s) describing the atmosphere, the mood of the project :

« Theatrical – graphic – poetic – symmetrical ».

THE PROJECT PALLET

« Shades of purple, powdery pink, forest green and almond green, blue, golden notes with brass and black and white for the terrazzo. We were totally inspired by the colour palettes of Dorothy Draper’s Hollywood Regency interiors. »

Materials and techniques used ?

« Floor-to-ceiling mirrors mounted in alcoves extend the space of the shop by creating an infinity effect and amplifying the characteristic striped pattern of the arches. We love the use of noble and timeless materials such as brass, terrazzo or marble. In polished brass, mirror shelves with a travertine base fill the alcoves. Many pieces of furniture have been carved from blocks of travertine like neoclassical monolithic totems ».

« For this project we designed a custom-made carpet with abstract curved graphics in many shades of purple, surrounded by a black and white terrazzo. The setting invites customers to sit on the elegant and comfortable pink velvet sofas. These sofas offer a luxurious customer experience. The green pleated staff wall, which resembles large velvet theatre curtains, serves as a backdrop to the brass and glass sculpture, illuminated by spotlights ».
