Le handcrafted, les pièces uniques constituent un territoire que tente de s’approprier l’univers du luxe. Il en résulte un artisanat ultra raffiné ou la matière est transfigurée, laminée, minutieusement tressée. Un artisanat qui répond aussi à une quête de sens pour des projets qui associent le recyclage et les savoirs faire locaux au processus comme celui des Pet Lamp d’Alvaro Catalán de Ocon ou le Panam-Panama, projet lauréat de Léa Baert. L’attrait pour les tissages muraux, le tressage de fibres (plébiscité récemment par de jeunes designers comme Sebastian Cox) ou encore pour la céramique met en lumière le travail des mains comme une vraie tendance de fond.
